 New 25 Gauge Bipolar Pencil Introduced By Kirwan Surgical Products, Inc.
Twenty-five gauge bipolar pencils designed primarily for use in vitreoretinal surgery

Marshfield, MA – March 20, 2003 – Kirwan Surgical Products is pleased to introduce the latest in vitreoretinal surgery.  Their new 25 gauge bipolar pencil minimizes surgical trauma, as well as reducing time spent in the operating room.

The twenty-five gauge bipolar pencil is designed for use in surgery where sutureless vitreoretinal surgical systems are employed.  The new 25 gauge port size requires the downsizing of all vitreoretinal instrumentation, which Kirwan Surgical has achieved with their new 25 gauge bipolar pencil.  Additionally, the circumference of a 25 gauge pencil is one third the size of a 20 gauge pencil.  This reduces the target area of coagulation by more than half.
